Jannik Sinner is continuing his dominant run at the U.S. Open, sweeping past fellow Italian Lorenzo Musetti to secure a spot in the semi-finals. The match, held at Flushing Meadows in New York, saw Sinner showcase his incredible form, winning 6-1, 6-4, 6-2.
Dubbed an "artificial intelligence" player by Alexander Bublik, Sinner's performance was nothing short of scintillating. Musetti, ranked 10th, struggled to convert any of his seven break points, while Sinner dominated with 28 winners compared to Musetti's 12.
"We know each other very well. We're from the same country, there's so many Italian players in the draw, so it's nice to play here," Sinner said, highlighting the camaraderie despite the competition.
A Dominant Performance
Sinner started strong, racing through the first five games of the first set and conceding just five points. Although Musetti managed to hold serve, Sinner closed out the opener in just 27 minutes. Musetti improved in the second set, but Sinner secured a crucial break at 4-4 and served it out comfortably. He then broke twice in the third set to seal the victory.
"From my point of view it was a great performance, very solid," Sinner added. He has now won 26 consecutive matches at hard-court Grand Slam tournaments.
Looking Ahead
Sinner, already a winner of the Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2025, will now face Felix Auger-Aliassime in the semi-final. The Canadian defeated Alex de Minaur to earn his spot.
