Standard Liege Sign Tenth Player! Who is El Hankouri?

Standard Liege are having a busy transfer window! The Belgian club have announced their tenth signing of the summer, attacker Mohammed El Hankouri. This comes as part of a major squad overhaul under new sporting director Marc Wilmots.

El Hankouri Joins From Germany

El Hankouri arrives from Bundesliga 2 side Magdeburg. He's the third forward Standard Liege have snapped up this summer, following Dennis Eckert Ayensa (whose loan was made permanent) and Thomas Henry. Henry made a splash on his debut, scoring in Standard Liege's 2-0 victory over RAAL.

El Hankouri's Career So Far

The Moroccan winger spent three seasons in Germany with Magdeburg, making 73 appearances and scoring 13 goals. Six of those goals came in the 2024/2025 season, along with five assists. Before his time in Germany, El Hankouri played for FC Groningen in the Netherlands, scoring six goals in 107 games. He was also part of the Feyenoord setup, but only played eight games for them.

Standard Liege fans will be hoping El Hankouri can add some firepower to their attack as they look to climb the Belgian league table. He brings experience from both the Dutch and German leagues, and could prove to be a valuable addition to the squad.

It will be interesting to see how Wilmots integrates all these new signings into the team. Will Standard Liege's active transfer window pay off? Only time will tell!
