KZN: Ex-Premier's House Gutted by Fire! What Happened in Kloof?

Durban, South Africa - The home of former KwaZulu-Natal Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube was ravaged by fire overnight in the affluent suburb of Kloof. The blaze caused extensive damage, destroying nearly everything in its path and severely damaging three vehicles.

Details of the Devastating Fire

The fire erupted late Sunday night, tearing through the upscale residence located in Kloof, a suburb west of Durban known for its serene environment and expansive properties. Firefighters from eThekwini Fire and Emergency Services responded to the scene but were unable to save the house. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

A source close to the situation expressed shock, stating, "We don’t know what started the fire. What we know for now is that the entire home was burnt down, and her three cars, which were parked inside their garages, were burnt down.” The rapid spread of the flames quickly engulfed the entire house and attached garages where the vehicles were parked.

Aftermath of the Inferno

A video circulating on social media reveals the sheer extent of the destruction. One car is completely charred beyond recognition, and the house's roofing has entirely caved in, leaving only blackened walls standing. Smoke continues to rise from the ruins, illustrating the total loss suffered.

Dube-Ncube served as the premier of KwaZulu-Natal from August 2022 to May 2024. Currently, she holds a senior position as the deputy coordinator of the ANC’s KwaZulu-Natal provincial task team (PTT). Her family is reportedly in deep shock following the incident.

The cause of the fire remains unknown and is currently under investigation. Authorities are working to determine the origin of the blaze and assess the full extent of the damage.
