Kaizer Chiefs Boss Gets HUGE Honour! Wits Awards Motaung Doctorate!

Johannesburg - Kaizer Motaung, the legendary founder of Kaizer Chiefs, is set to receive an honorary doctorate from Wits University! This prestigious award recognises his exceptional contributions to South African sport, business, and community development. Motaung will be awarded a Doctor of Commerce alongside Mavuso Msimang, a prominent figure in public service and anti-apartheid activism.

Wits Honours Legends: Motaung and Msimang

The honorary degrees will be conferred on Tuesday, 15 July 2025, during Wits University's graduation ceremonies, which run from 14 – 18 July 2025. Over 2 045 graduates will be celebrated during this season, including 129 PhDs and the two honorary doctorate recipients.

Professor Zeblon Vilakazi FRS, Vice-Chancellor and Principal of Wits University, stated: “These distinguished individuals have made lasting contributions to sport and public intellectual life in South Africa. They are both leaders of change in South Africa and have advanced society for good. We are proud to celebrate their achievements and welcome them into the Wits community.”
