WI Cricket Shake-Up? Brathwaite's Spot Under Threat After Aussie Loss!

The West Indies cricket team is facing some serious scrutiny after their series loss to Australia. Coach Daren Sammy didn't mince words, calling their performance in the second Test "not good enough" and hinting at potential changes for the final match.

After Australia secured a comprehensive victory in Grenada, clinching the three-match series, Sammy expressed his disappointment with the Windies' batting performance. He felt the team struggled to absorb pressure and questioned their approach at the crease.

Sammy's Blunt Assessment

"We've just not shown when it is tough, to find a way to absorb pressure," Sammy told the media. He highlighted the number of dismissals via bowled and lbw, suggesting the batsmen were too aggressive on a good length.

While acknowledging that improvements take time, Sammy emphasized the need for patience and a realistic assessment of the team's current situation. However, the most significant takeaway was his uncertainty regarding Kraigg Brathwaite's future in the squad.

Brathwaite's Century Test Under the Microscope

Brathwaite, recently celebrated for reaching 100 Test matches, has had a disappointing series. His scores of 0 and 7 in Grenada, following 4 and 4 in Barbados, have put his place in the team in jeopardy.

Will He Be Dropped?

Sammy admitted that Brathwaite's position is up for serious discussion. "He hasn't looked good this series, and in a team where you are searching for performances, you get very close to say 'okay, do we give somebody else a chance?'" he stated.

The coach plans to have an in-depth discussion with the selection group and captain regarding Brathwaite's performance. All options are on the table, suggesting a potential shake-up in the batting order for the final Test in Jamaica.

Mindset and Technical Adjustments Needed

Sammy stressed the importance of a change in mindset and technical adjustments to improve the team's performance. He cited Steven Smith as an example of a player who has successfully adapted his technique on difficult surfaces.

The West Indies team needs to find a balance between intent to score and proper technique to compete effectively against strong opposition like Australia. Whether Brathwaite will be part of that future remains to be seen.
