Mzansi Meets Swiss Star! Man City Nab Iman Beney!

Manchester City Women have secured the signature of Swiss teenage sensation Iman Beney on a four-year deal! The 18-year-old forward joins the Citizens from BSC YB Frauen, adding exciting talent to their attacking lineup. This marks City's second signing of the summer, following the arrival of Canadian defender Jade Rose.

Beney arrives at the Joie Stadium fresh off a stellar season in Switzerland. She played a pivotal role in BSC Young Boys Frauen's league title victory – their first since 2011 – even scoring the decisive penalty in a shootout against GC Zurich. Her impressive performance, which included nine goals in 22 appearances, earned her a place in the Swiss Super League Team of the Season.

"I'm very happy to be here and I can't wait to start the new season with Manchester City," Beney said upon signing. "I had a good feeling with Therese [Sjogran, director of football], and I think City is the best solution to help develop me as a player. They are a club who like to keep possession, and I really like to have the ball, so I think it's a good fit."

Euro 2025 Calling!

Adding to the excitement, Beney has been called up to the Switzerland squad for Euro 2025! The tournament is being hosted by Switzerland, giving Beney the opportunity to shine on home soil. She was previously selected for the 2023 World Cup, but unfortunately, an ACL injury sidelined her. This will be her first major tournament experience, and she'll be looking to make a significant impact.

A Rising Star

Beney's journey has been remarkable. Named in the Women’s Under-17 European Championship Team of the Tournament in May 2023, she's quickly established herself as a key player. Despite the setback of the ACL injury, she's returned to the Swiss national team and is ready to take on the challenges ahead. Man City fans, get ready to witness the talent of Iman Beney!
