Bernardo Silva Named Man City Captain After De Bruyne Exit

Following Kevin De Bruyne's departure, Pep Guardiola has officially named Bernardo Silva as the new captain of Manchester City. This decision, made personally by Guardiola, reflects Silva's importance and trusted status within the team. Instead of a team vote, Guardiola opted to appoint Silva directly.

Silva to Lead City at Club World Cup

Bernardo Silva is set to captain Manchester City at the upcoming Club World Cup in the United States. The Portuguese playmaker, currently in the final year of his contract, has been a key player for Guardiola since joining the club in 2017. His leadership will be crucial as City aims to win the inaugural 32-team competition.

Silva's Future Uncertain

Despite his commitment to the current season, Silva acknowledged the possibility of leaving Manchester City when his contract expires next June. He stated, "I know what I’m going to do but it’s not the time to talk about that. I’m very focused on my season... I have one year on my contract so obviously I can leave next season. This season will for sure be with Man City. I’m going to stay."

Silva confirmed that he has had options to leave in the past, but his decision has consistently been to remain at Manchester City. His dedication to the team remains unwavering as they prepare for the Club World Cup, starting against Wydad at Lincoln Financial Field.

City Prepared for Gruelling Schedule

Addressing concerns about the demanding schedule, Silva commented, "We know what the schedule is like... It is what it is, we’re very used to that. It’s been a few years that it’s like this. So, it’s a beautiful competition." City is confident in their ability to navigate the challenges and compete at the highest level.
