Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced the appointment of Thomas Frank as their new Head Coach, succeeding Ange Postecoglou. The Danish manager has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until 2028. This move comes as a surprise to many, considering Postecoglou recently led Spurs to victory in the Europa League, ending a 17-year trophy drought. However, a dismal Premier League season, finishing 17th with 22 losses, ultimately sealed his fate.
Why Thomas Frank?
Tottenham's decision to bring in Frank is based on his impressive track record at Brentford. He transformed the club from a Championship side to a stable Premier League team, consistently exceeding expectations. Spurs see Frank as "one of the most progressive and innovative head coaches in the game" with a proven ability to develop players and squads.
Frank's Journey to Tottenham
Frank initially joined Brentford in 2016 and quickly rose through the ranks. He took over as manager after Dean Smith's departure to Aston Villa. After a near miss in the 2020 Championship play-off final, he guided Brentford to promotion the following year. Since then, Brentford has consistently maintained its Premier League status, finishing 13th, 9th, 16th and 10th, despite frequently selling key players.
Frank's Coaching Team
Frank will be joined at Tottenham by several members of his Brentford coaching staff, including Justin Cochrane (First Team Assistant Coach), Chris Haslam (Head of Performance & First Team Assistant Coach), and Joe Newton (First Team Coach Analyst). Andreas Georgson will also join as a First Team Assistant Coach, arriving from Manchester United.
What to Expect from Spurs
With Champions League football on the horizon, Spurs fans will be eager to see what Frank brings to the team. Known for his tactical flexibility and ability to adapt, Frank is expected to build on the foundation laid by Postecoglou while adding his own innovative approach. The club is confident that Frank's leadership will guide the team to success in the upcoming season.
