Bafana Bafana's stand-in captain, Nkosinathi Sibisi, has expressed his excitement about partnering with Mbekezeli Mbokazi in their upcoming friendly international against Mozambique. Sibisi described Mbokazi as a 'humble boy' who readily accepts instructions, making him an ideal defensive partner.
The match, scheduled to take place at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, marks Bafana Bafana's second and final friendly during this international window. Sibisi has previously lauded his 19-year-old Orlando Pirates teammate, highlighting their existing club-level partnership as a key advantage.
Sibisi: 'Easy to Play Alongside Mbokazi'
“I’ve played with Mbokazi at club level; it won’t be any different in the national team,” Sibisi told the media in Polokwane. He emphasized Mbokazi's receptiveness to guidance and his overall humility. “He’s a very, very humble boy. He takes well instructions. For me, it’s very easy to play alongside him.”
Giving Mbokazi Confidence
Sibisi believes this game provides a perfect opportunity for Mbokazi to showcase his abilities on the international stage. He added, “I don’t think tomorrow it will be a big change for him. As the coach has mentioned to say it’s a perfect choice for me to partner him to give him that guidance and give him that confidence to be able to take his chance. I think tomorrow we’ll get to see the best of him.”
The match is set to kick off at 19:30, and fans are eagerly anticipating a strong performance from the Bafana Bafana squad, particularly the burgeoning partnership between Sibisi and Mbokazi in defence.
