ATM's Vuyo Zungula Steps Down as President to Focus on Parliament

JOHANNESBURG - The African Transformation Movement (ATM) has announced a significant leadership change. Vuyo Zungula will no longer hold the position of party president, instead dedicating his efforts entirely to his parliamentary duties. This decision comes as the ATM seeks to strengthen its presence both within Parliament and across the nation.

Professor Ceaser Nongqunga Takes the Helm

Taking over the presidential reins is Professor Ceaser Nongqunga, a prominent figure who also serves as the chief apostle of the Twelve Apostles Church in Christ. The ATM's national executive committee (NEC) believes that this strategic realignment will allow Zungula to concentrate on holding the executive accountable in Parliament, while Nongqunga focuses on expanding the party's reach and influence.

Zungula's Parliamentary Impact

Despite the ATM's relatively small representation in the previous Parliament with only two seats, Vuyo Zungula made a notable impact. He played a key role in advocating for accountability from President Cyril Ramaphosa regarding the Phala Phala scandal. His efforts highlighted the ATM's commitment to good governance and transparency.

The ATM emphasizes that separating the responsibilities of parliamentary work and organizational leadership is a crucial step towards achieving its goals. This strategic move aims to maximize the effectiveness of both Zungula and Nongqunga in their respective roles. The party believes that this focused approach will contribute to its overall growth and impact on South African politics.

Professor Nongqunga's primary mandate is to drive the party's growth strategy, focusing on increasing membership and expanding the ATM's footprint across the country. His leadership will be instrumental in shaping the party's future direction and ensuring its continued relevance in the political landscape.
