Cape Town is reeling after a tragic incident at the Hotel Sky on Lower Long Street. A man has died after reportedly falling from the rooftop of the iconic hotel.
According to reports, the man had purchased a ticket for the Sky-Hi ride, a popular thrill attraction located on the hotel's roof. However, instead of participating in the ride, he allegedly jumped from the building, bypassing security and safety measures.
Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene, and Lower Long Street was cordoned off to allow authorities to investigate. The South African Police Service (SAPS) and forensic teams are currently on site conducting their investigation.
Hotel Sky management has confirmed the incident and expressed their condolences to the man's family and friends. They are cooperating fully with the police investigation.
“We are deeply saddened by this tragic event,” said a hotel spokesperson. “Our thoughts are with the deceased's loved ones during this difficult time. We are working closely with the authorities to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident.”
The incident has caused significant traffic delays in the Cape Town CBD, and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes. The area remains cordoned off as the investigation continues.
