Comrades Marathon Runner Found: SAPS Investigate Disappearance

SAPS Investigating Disappearance of Comrades Runner Moira Harding

KwaZulu-Natal police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the disappearance and subsequent discovery of Comrades Marathon runner, Moira Harding, from Cape Town. Harding vanished shortly after crossing the finish line at Durban's Moses Mabhida Peoples Park on Sunday, prompting a frantic search by her family and the Comrades Marathon Association.

According to family members, Harding appeared unwell after the race, leading to immediate concerns for her safety. A large-scale search operation was launched with the support of the CMA.

On Monday morning, medics located Harding in critical condition on Durban's Mahatma Gandhi Road. She was stabilised at the scene before being airlifted to a local hospital for further treatment.

KZN SAPS spokesperson Robert Netshiunda confirmed that authorities are working to determine the events leading up to Harding's disappearance and her condition. He stated, "The woman was found on Monday morning after an intensive search by police's search and rescue officers, working with other law enforcement and private entities. She was found in the Point area."

While Harding was found with no visible injuries, police are awaiting a full medical report to ascertain the cause of her condition and determine the next course of action in their investigation.

This incident highlights the importance of runner safety and well-being, even after completing a gruelling event like the Comrades Marathon. The investigation remains ongoing.
