ANC Renewal: Mbeki's Address & KZN's Faction Fight!

Thabo Mbeki Keynote Sparks ANC Renewal Push

DURBAN—The African National Congress (ANC) is intensifying its renewal efforts, aiming to regain public confidence and tackle internal challenges head-on. Former President Thabo Mbeki delivered a crucial keynote address at the party's Political School Class, setting the stage for a revitalized ANC.

Mbeki's address comes at a critical time, as the ANC grapples with declining electoral support and internal divisions. The party hopes that Mbeki's insights and guidance will help steer the ANC towards a path of unity and progress.

KZN Task Team Blames Factionalism for Electoral Setback

Meanwhile, the ANC Provincial Task Team (PTT) in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) has squarely blamed internal factionalism for the party's disappointing electoral performance in the province. The interim party leaders convened in Durban for a political school session, focusing on formulating a strategy to rebuild the party's support base ahead of next year’s elections.

KZN ANC Convenor, Jeff Hadebe, didn't mince words, stating that the organization remains paralyzed by factions. He acknowledged the loss of public confidence, reflected in the significant decline in electoral support during the last election.

"The organisation remains paralysed by factions," Hadebe stated. "The people lost confidence in the ANC—this has been clearly expressed in the embarrassing decline in electoral [support] in the last election."

Despite these challenges, Hadebe emphasized the party's commitment to addressing these issues and restoring public trust. He affirmed that comrades should feel empowered to speak honestly and avoid deceiving the public.

The ANC faces a tough road ahead in rebuilding its image and regaining the trust of the South African people. The success of the renewal project hinges on addressing internal divisions, promoting transparency, and delivering on its promises to the electorate.
