Mzansi, good news! SASSA is bringing some much-needed relief to social grant beneficiaries. Get ready for an increase in your payments starting this October! As reported by Cape {town} Etc, this follows Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana's Budget Speech for 2025/26, where he promised to uplift the financial status of our most vulnerable citizens.
What's Changing?
From next month, all relevant social grants will see a R10 increase. SASSA CEO Themba Matlou calls this vital support amidst tough economic times. Here's a breakdown:
- Old Age Grant: R2,310 to R2,320
- Old Age Grant (75+ years): R2,330 to R2,340
- War Veterans Grant: R2,330 to R2,340
- Disability Grant: R2,310 to R2,320
- Care Dependency Grant: R2,310 to R2,320
Matlou emphasized that these increases demonstrate the government's commitment to protecting those who struggle the most. He stated, 'This increase is crucial, acting as a safety net for our beneficiaries against the hardships they face. It demonstrates that the government is focused on easing the financial burden on these individuals and protecting them from economic adversity.'
