Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha has expressed his disappointment following PSG's 1-0 defeat against Olympique de Marseille (OM). In a post-match interview, Vitinha, who was arguably PSG's best player in the match, admitted that the team failed to bring the necessary ingredients to secure a victory.
Vitinha's Honest Assessment
"I don't have much to say. We saw the same way. They took advantage of the fast goal, it is important for them with this atmosphere. They try to complicate the match for us," Vitinha explained. He further added that PSG struggled to find their rhythm and lacked their usual intensity.
Despite the loss, Vitinha remained optimistic, stating, "We gave everything but it lacked things in the game. We tried, but it didn't want to do it today." He also dismissed concerns about missing players, emphasizing the team's ability to win even with the available squad.
Zabarnyi Echoes the Sentiment
Illia Zabarnyi, another PSG player, echoed Vitinha's sentiments, highlighting the difficulty of the match against OM. "It's football. Anything can happen," Zabarnyi said, acknowledging the intense physical and psychological conditions both teams faced.
Zabarnyi also admitted that PSG could have performed better in certain aspects of the game, expressing hope for improved collective performance in future matches. "The match was difficult, we should have won I think. I'm not saying that we played badly. We checked the match, we could have done better but it is football," he concluded.
Looking Ahead
While the defeat against OM is a setback for PSG, both Vitinha and Zabarnyi remain determined to learn from the experience and improve their performance in upcoming matches. The team will need to regroup and address the issues highlighted in this game if they want to achieve their goals this season.
