Villa's Midfield Boost: Kamara's Return & Emery's Tactics Revealed!

Aston Villa is eager to secure their first Premier League win of the season against Sunderland this Sunday. Manager Unai Emery is pleased to have more players available, providing him with increased tactical flexibility. The return of Boubacar Kamara, a key midfielder, is a significant boost, though Emery also praised other players who have stepped up recently.

Midfield Injury Woes Easing Up

Villa has been dealing with injuries to key midfielders. Amadou Onana suffered a hamstring injury during the 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in late August. Youri Tielemans, another Belgian midfielder, then sustained a calf injury in the goalless draw against Everton last weekend. However, the return of Kamara provides much-needed relief.

Kamara's Comeback

Boubacar Kamara had been sidelined since being substituted early in the 1-0 loss to Brentford last month. He made his return in the Carabao Cup match against the same opponent, a positive moment on an otherwise disappointing night. Emery expressed his delight at Kamara's return, stating: “We are so happy when some players are coming back after they were injured. But, as well, we have players who are performing well.”

Kamara's presence provides a reliable shield in front of Villa's defense. Emery hopes his return will contribute to the team's positive momentum following the international break. “For Sunday, he’s coming back after he played 20 minutes at Brentford on Tuesday. It’s good news for the team to have Kamara available with us.”

McGinn's Versatility & Tactical Adjustments

Despite Kamara's return, Emery acknowledges the contributions of other players who have filled in during the injury crisis. John McGinn has adapted to a deeper midfield role, covering for the absentees. This tactical shift was facilitated by the arrivals of Harvey Elliott and Jadon Sancho, providing Emery with more attacking options. Villa's adaptability will be crucial as they aim for their first league victory against Sunderland.
