The DStv Delicious International Food & Music Festival, powered by LottoStar, is gearing up to be a feast for the senses! But this year, there's an extra special ingredient: ten talented graduates from the DStv Delicious Festival Traders Academy are getting a chance to showcase their culinary creations.
These budding chefs, who recently completed their training at the academy, will be serving up their delicious dishes to festival-goers. This marks the first time since the festival's launch in 2013 that graduates from the academy will be featured as vendors, offering a taste of their unique skills and flavours.
The ten graduates were celebrated at a special event held at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit on Monday, 15 September. The Traders Academy, launched in Johannesburg in 2023, aims to empower small, medium, and micro-enterprises (SMMEs) in the food, beverage, and hospitality sector by providing them with exposure and access to market opportunities.
Tom Pearson-Adams, CEO and founder of the DStv Delicious International Food & Music Festival, and Jean Huddy, Director of the Delicious Festival Traders Academy Festival, were present at the celebration. Pearson-Adams expressed his excitement about having the graduates showcase their work at this year's festival.
"What's most exciting about the festival this year is that we have ten of our amazing graduates, ten SMMEs who we have had through the course," said Pearson-Adams. "They graduated last April and will be at the festival this year representing themselves and their own businesses, trading on the proudly South African Delicious Mile. It's a significant milestone for them."
