MaMkhize's Tax Woes Deepen: SARS Seizes Royal AM Assets! 😱

Businesswoman Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize is facing increased pressure from the South African Revenue Service (SARS) as they seized assets from her properties and Royal AM FC’s training facility this week. This comes amidst allegations of tax evasion, deepening Mkhize's financial troubles.

SARS Action: Not a Raid, But Enforcement

According to reports, SARS officials, accompanied by police, conducted operations at several locations linked to Mkhize. These included her Sandton home, her sister Nozipho Ngubo’s residence near Pietermaritzburg, and the Royal AM training facility known as “Royal Ranch”.

Royal AM has confirmed that SARS has taken control of the team and frozen the club’s funds. The situation unfolded dramatically, with about ten trucks deployed to the Royal Ranch. Beds and other essentials were removed from dormitories used by Royal AM’s women’s side, while players continued training nearby.

Players Express Unease

Some athletes have expressed concern regarding the lack of communication from management and uncertainty about the club’s financial stability. The SARS spokesperson, Siphithi Sibeko, clarified that the operation was not a raid but a court-sanctioned process.

“This is not a raid, it is an enforcement action carried out under a Durban High Court order dated 21 November 2024. We are acting strictly within our legal mandate,” Sibeko stated. He added that SARS would not disclose the full details of the order or the complete list of individuals and assets involved.

The unfolding situation raises questions about the future of Royal AM and the implications for its players and staff. Further details are expected as the legal process continues.
