Madlanga Commission vs. Ad Hoc Committee: The Mkhwanazi Showdown

Mkhwanazi is currently consulting with evidence leaders from the Madlanga Commission, which is slated to begin in less than two weeks. However, the Parliamentary Ad Hoc Committee, established to investigate Mkhwanazi's allegations, is ramping up the pressure.

The Ad Hoc Committee plans to summon seven witnesses, likely to be subpoenaed by the Madlanga Commission as well, starting September 22nd. Their deadline is October 31st. Senior eNCA reporter Dasen Thathiah is closely following these unfolding events.

Bheki Cele Dragged into Police Corruption Probe!

CAPE TOWN - The parliamentary inquiry into police interference and corruption has widened its net, adding former minister Bheki Cele to its witness list. This decision follows a News24 exposé alleging that Cele contacted Vusimuzi 'Cat' Matlala, an accused crime kingpin, ten times in a single day.

The committee reached this decision during a meeting focused on preparations. They reaffirmed that KZN Provincial Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi would be the initial key witness. The addition of Bheki Cele to the witness roster was also agreed upon.

Committee chairperson Soviet Lekganyane confirmed the agreement to add Cele's name. Committee member Ian Cameron highlighted the relevance of Cele's connections to individuals under investigation. He cited the recent allegations of Cele's numerous calls to Matlala as particularly critical for the committee's initial line of inquiry.

The committee reported that five of the invited witnesses have already responded and are prepared to present their submissions.
