Wolves coach Vitor Pereira is urging his team to maintain a high level of performance when they face Everton at Molineux. He emphasises the importance of securing their first Premier League victory of the season.
The Old Gold recently celebrated a Carabao Cup victory at home, overcoming West Ham United in a thrilling comeback. Jorgen Strand Larsen, whose future at Molineux has been the subject of intense media speculation, came off the bench to score two late goals, securing their first win of the 2025/26 season.
However, Pereira stresses that his team must deliver a quality performance throughout the entire 90 minutes to defeat the Toffees.
Facing a Physical Everton
“They’re a physical team, with a very vertical way to play, very good in set-pieces, strong in counter-attack and we need to show the mentality to compete against this team because they have a strong spirit,” Pereira stated.
“We need to be at our best level as we are facing a strong team and we know very well how they play and the identity of this team. We need to face them with the energy that I saw in the last game, with ambition, energy and the attitude to win the game and avoid mistakes.”
Importance of Home Win
Pereira highlighted the significance of securing a home win. “This is a very important game for us because we need results to build confidence and avoid doubts. It’s not only about results, but about consistency in the game.”
He added, “I want to see my team being more consistent than in the last game, trying to correct situations that lead to unnecessary goals.”
What Krejci Brings to Wolves
Regarding the new signing, Krejci, Pereira said, “He has qualities. He’s a technical player, he has leadership, and he can play in our system in three positions – as a defender and as a midfielder. This is important for us. He’s just had one training session with us, so he still needs to learn what we want from him.”
