Bologna are reportedly eyeing Al-Nassr's Brazilian winger, Wesley Gassova, as a replacement for Dan Ndoye, who has been sold to Nottingham Forest. This Premier League move generated a significant profit for Bologna, who initially acquired Ndoye from FC Basel for €16.45 million in the summer of 2023. Two years later, they sold him for a staggering €42 million, along with a 20% cut of any future resale fee.
Replacing Ndoye won't be easy, as he contributed nine goals and six assists in all competitions last season, making him a key player for the team.
Wesley Gassova: The Chosen One?
According to Corriere dello Sport, Bologna have identified 20-year-old Wesley Gassova as their primary target to fill the void left by Ndoye. Gassova was previously linked with a Serie A move earlier in the summer and is now a top priority for the Rossoblu.
Gassova moved from Corinthians to Al-Nassr for €18 million in August 2024. During his time with the Saudi Pro League club, he scored one goal and provided three assists in 22 competitive matches. It is believed that Al-Nassr would be willing to sell him for a similar price.
Salary a Stumbling Block?
However, a significant obstacle could be Gassova's €4 million per season salary. He would likely need to accept a pay cut to facilitate the move to Bologna.
Other potential options mentioned by Corriere dello Sport include Bryan Gil, currently owned by Tottenham Hotspur, and Jonathan Rowe of Olympique Marseille. It remains to be seen which player Bologna will ultimately choose to bolster their squad.
