Top Golf Teams Swing to Success Both on the Course and in the Classroom
Several university men's golf teams are celebrating academic achievements alongside their athletic prowess. The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) recently announced its PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Awards, recognizing teams that excel in the classroom.
University of Wyoming Earns Prestigious Recognition
The University of Wyoming men's golf team received the President's Special Recognition, an honor reserved for teams with a remarkable average GPA of 3.5 or higher. This year, only 74 Division I teams achieved this academic standard. The Cowboys have consistently demonstrated their commitment to academics, earning the team academic award for the past 16 years. They are gearing up for the 2025-26 season, set to begin at the Ram Masters Invite next month.
Harding University Bisons Honored for Academic Excellence
Harding University's men's golf team also secured the PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award after a stellar 2024-25 season. Harding was among 52 NCAA Division II teams to achieve a team GPA of 3.00 or higher. The Bisons' impressive season included a second-place finish at the Great American Conference Championships and a strong showing at the NCAA Division II Midwest/Central Regional, where they finished fifth out of 20 teams. They also set a new school record for winning percentage (.828) and recorded the second-best stroke average in program history (291.7). The Bisons are preparing to kick off their 2025-26 season at The Mule tournament on September 8-9, hosted by the University of Central Missouri.
These achievements highlight the dedication and hard work of student-athletes who balance the demands of competitive sports with rigorous academic pursuits. Congratulations to the University of Wyoming Cowboys and the Harding University Bisons for their outstanding accomplishments!
