LeAnn Rimes Loses Teeth Onstage: 'I Panicked!'
Country music star LeAnn Rimes experienced a truly unforgettable moment during a recent concert – her teeth fell out mid-song! The singer, known for hits like "Blue" and "Can't Fight the Moonlight," shared the hilarious and slightly mortifying incident with her fans on Instagram.
Rimes explained that during a performance of her 1996 hit "One Way Ticket (Because I Can)," she felt something pop in her mouth. Turns out, it was the dental bridge in the front of her mouth, a result of previous dental surgeries. "I was on stage, and in the middle of 'One Way Ticket,' I feel something pop in my mouth...and it fell out in the middle of my song last night," she recounted in her video.
In an Instagram video she posted, Rimes narrated the incident. “We’re going to do a little story time about how the show must go on,” she posted in the clip posted to her Instagram page. “And this is the most epic example of how the show must go on.
The Show Must Go On
"I panicked," Rimes admitted. But like a true professional, she quickly recovered. She ran to the side of the stage, popped the bridge back in, and continued singing. "I just went on singing," she said with a laugh. "And then I just had to get real with everybody and tell them exactly what was happening, or else I would have had to walk off stage."
She continued the show with her teeth temporarily put back, “For the rest of the show, I was literally like this, pushing my teeth in, like every couple lines, and singing,” Rimes said. “I never knew how many 'Fs' and 'Ths' and 'Shs' that I have in my songs!”
The singer said she was pushing her teeth back in: "I never knew how many 'Fs' and 'Ths' and 'Shs' that I have in my songs." While the moment was admittedly “embarrassing” for Rimes, she called it "the most epic experience ever."
Rimes later posted a video of herself singing a cover of Miley Cyrus’ “More to Lose,” while seemingly backstage at a venue. “This song is so fun to sing, even when your bridge (🦷) is hanging on for dear life,” she wrote in the post.
'Keeping It Real'
Rimes, who is married to actor Eddie Cibrian, joked about the incident on social media, saying, "The front row, get ready for something to fly out. If you catch them, please return them!" She added, "There wasn’t a fu**ing thing I could do about it except either walk off or hold my teeth in and sing. So I just ran with it. In case anybody has an issue on stage ever and feels embarrassed by it, just watch this video again, and it’ll remind you that the show can go on even amid sheer utter embarrassment. You just got to be real with people.”
The two-time Grammy winner said she doesn't want it to happen again, though: "I don’t usually have firsts in my career — that was a first, and hopefully a last."
LeAnn Rimes's ability to laugh at herself and keep the show going despite the dental mishap resonated with fans, who praised her professionalism and good humor.
Mental Health and Childhood Stardom
The singer has been open about her struggles with mental health, particularly the impact of her early fame. Rimes has spoken about the challenges of growing up in the spotlight and the importance of prioritizing mental well-being. This candidness makes moments like the onstage dental incident even more relatable, as she demonstrates the ability to find humor in unexpected situations and keep moving forward.
The country prodigy-turned-genre power player addressed her teeth falling out during an onstage performance at a concert over the weekend in an Instagram video posted Saturday, June 21.
For LeAnn Rimes, the "show must go on."
While the incident was certainly unexpected, LeAnn Rimes proved that she can handle anything the stage throws her way – even a rogue dental bridge.
