Texas Tornadoes?! Severe Storms Devastate Dallas, Sanger: What You Need To Know

North Texas is reeling after a night of severe storms brought damaging winds, heavy rain, and even possible tornado activity to the region. The storms, which swept through Sunday night and into Monday morning, left a trail of destruction, including a fatality at an RV park in Sanger.

Sanger Hit Hard: Fatality and Widespread Damage

One person tragically died after sustaining injuries when severe storms overturned several RVs at the KOA RV park in Sanger, Denton County. Officials confirmed the fatality on Monday. Sanger experienced some of the worst of the storm, with numerous emergency calls reported between Sunday evening and Monday morning.

The storms packed a punch, with hail up to two inches in diameter and wind gusts reaching 65 to 70 mph. These powerful forces caused significant damage to structures, downed trees, and led to widespread power outages affecting approximately 3,000 customers. Utility crews worked tirelessly to restore service throughout the night.

Walmart Distribution Center Roof Collapses

In Sanger, the Walmart Distribution Center suffered a partial roof collapse, with reports indicating a 45- to 50-foot hole. Two semi-trucks were also overturned at the facility. Fortunately, all personnel were safely evacuated from the building. Denton County Emergency Management is investigating the cause of the collapse, including the possibility of a tornado.

Dallas Area Weather: From Storms to Summer Heat

While the official start of fall has arrived, North Texas is bracing for one last blast of summer-like heat and humidity before a cold front brings cooler temperatures mid-week. Expect hot and muggy conditions with a heat index near 100 degrees after the morning storms clear. Meteorologists predict the cold front will usher in a more seasonal feel by mid-week, offering much-needed relief from the heat.

Collin and Grayson Counties Experience Hail Damage

Viewer videos have emerged showing significant damage in Collin and Grayson counties due to large hail and strong winds. Residents reported hail as large as golf balls, causing broken windows and backyard damage. If you're in the area, check your property for any damage sustained during the storm.
