LG Twins Manager Yeom Kyung-yeop Focused on Supporting Oh Ji-hwan
LG Twins manager Yeom Kyung-yeop is determined to help veteran Oh Ji-hwan rediscover his batting form. With the LG Twins facing the Kiwoom Heroes in a crucial KBO League game, the team is making strategic adjustments to bolster their lineup and support Oh Ji-hwan's return to peak performance.
Prior to the game against the Kiwoom Heroes, LG made roster moves, calling up right-hander Jang Hyun-sik and infielder Son Yong-joon, while Moon Jung-bin and Kim Sung-woo were removed from the first-team entry. Manager Yeom Kyung-yeop highlighted Son Yong-joon's strong hitting ability in the second division as a key reason for his inclusion in the starting lineup as the third baseman.
"(Son Yong-joon) had the best hitting sense in the second division," said Coach Yeom. "I tried to use it after training. When I checked it recently, it was consistently playing well. When I asked the defensive coaches about it, he explained, "I said it was okay."
Moon Bo-kyung's knee pain also contributes to the decision, preventing him from defending the third base position currently. This situation puts greater emphasis on Oh Ji-hwan to step up. Manager Yeom stressed the importance of supporting Oh Ji-hwan, stating that the team needs him to regain his batting condition. He emphasized, "In the end, Ji-hwan has to save. The best situation for the team and Ji-hwan is to find his batting condition through practice as Ji-hwan plays defense behind him in the winning game."
The LG Twins are counting on Oh Ji-hwan to lead the team, and the coaching staff is committed to providing the necessary support for his revival. This strategic focus aims to improve both Oh Ji-hwan's individual performance and the team's overall success.
