Kathy Bates UNLEASHED! Slams NBC Over 'Harry's Law' Cancellation!

Kathy Bates Still Fired Up About 'Harry's Law' Cancellation!

Kathy Bates hasn't forgotten how NBC treated her show, 'Harry's Law,' back in 2012. After two seasons, the network pulled the plug, and Bates didn't hold back her feelings a year later. Now, in 2025, she's still standing by her harsh words, especially with the success of 'Matlock' proving her point.

Bates starred as lawyer Harry Korn in 'Harry's Law,' a series about a group of underdogs who start a law firm in a rundown shoe store. Despite attracting around 10 million viewers each week, NBC canceled the show because it didn't perform well with younger demographics.

"I think they treated us like sh*t," Bates told reporters in 2013. "They kicked us to the curb. They disrespected us. They disrespected our seven to 11 million viewers a week. And I think they’re getting what they deserve."

'Success Is the Best Revenge'

In a recent 'Matlock' Emmys interview with Variety, Bates doubled down on her criticism, laughing at her past outburst and suggesting that 'Matlock's' success demonstrates the value of investing in stories featuring and created for older audiences.

"They said, 'We can’t monetize on old people.' And I felt like, 'F**k you!'" Bates exclaimed. "Success is the best revenge," she added with a shrug.

At 77, Bates has made history as the oldest nominee for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series at the Emmys. She's considered a strong contender to win. She stated that 'Matlock's' success "feels totally different" from her past accolades.

This story is a testament to Kathy Bates's enduring talent and her unwavering belief in the power of stories that resonate with diverse audiences. Her experience highlights the importance of networks recognizing the value of viewers of all ages and demographics.
