Justice Served in Pueblo: Woman Sentenced for Murdering Boyfriend's Children

A Colorado woman, Corena Minjarez, 39, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the horrific murders of her boyfriend's two young children. The case, which unfolded in Pueblo, Colorado, involved the discovery of the children's remains hidden in shocking ways.

Minjarez was convicted on August 27th on multiple charges, including two counts of first-degree murder of a victim under 12 by a person in a position of trust and two counts of abuse of a corpse. The victims, Yesenia Dominguez, 3, and Jesus Dominguez Jr., 5, were last seen alive in 2018.

The Gruesome Discovery

The investigation began in January 2024 after authorities received a tip concerning a storage unit in Pueblo. Inside, they found the remains of Yesenia Dominguez encased in concrete within a metal container. DNA testing confirmed her identity.

Weeks later, the investigation led to an abandoned car at a scrapyard. Inside the car's trunk, stuffed into a suitcase, were the remains of Jesus Dominguez Jr. The vehicle was registered to Minjarez.

Father's Plea and Sentencing

Jesus Dominguez Sr., the children's father and Minjarez's boyfriend, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in exchange for his testimony against Minjarez. He is scheduled to be sentenced on September 12th.

Evidence Against Minjarez

Prosecutors presented evidence during the trial, including a receipt for concrete purchased with Minjarez's credit card. The storage unit where Yesenia's body was found was also registered to Minjarez.

The Pueblo Police Department confirmed that neither child had ever been reported missing before their remains were discovered. The children were last seen in 2018.

The sentencing brings a measure of closure to a deeply disturbing case that has shocked the Pueblo community and beyond.
