Billy Bob Thornton's Band Honored! See the Decatur Theater Tribute!

Decatur, IL – The Lincoln Square Theater in Decatur recently honored Billy Bob Thornton and his band, The Boxmasters, with a dedicated plaque and the naming of its VIP Mezzanine after the group. This special recognition took place just before The Boxmasters' performance on Wednesday evening.

The VIP Mezzanine is now officially designated for the group, which includes Thornton, J.D. Andrew, Kirk McKim, Raymond Hardy, and Nick Davidson. Although this week marked their first performance at the Lincoln Square Theater, the band members expressed their appreciation for the theater's rich history.

Thornton shared his hope that The Boxmasters will become a regular act at the Lincoln Square Theater, returning annually to perform. He is, of course, widely known for his successful career as a movie and TV star, currently starring in "Landman," with the second season expected to premiere in November.

Mark Scranton, vice president of the theater's board, noted the significant progress made in restoring the Lincoln Square Theater to its former glory in a relatively short period. The dedication ceremony and performance highlight the theater's ongoing revitalization efforts.

Previously, in 2001, the theater's balcony was dedicated to Rick Springfield following a fundraising concert. Now, with the mezzanine dedicated to The Boxmasters, the Lincoln Square Theater continues to celebrate artists and its own restored spaces.
