Country music fans are buzzing about the new music video from Miranda Lambert and Chris Stapleton for their duet, "A Song to Sing." The video, released on August 22nd, is a delightful throwback to the 1970s, complete with roller rink vibes and retro attire. It's an homage to the classic duets of Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers, and fans are loving the nostalgic feel.
A Roller Rink Romance
The video, directed by Running Bear and produced by James Stratakis, opens with Lambert and Stapleton arriving at the Brentwood Skate Center. Inside, they perform in the middle of the rink, sporting matching brown suits and feather-accented cowboy hats. A heart-shaped disco ball hangs between them, adding to the retro atmosphere.
Adding to the authenticity, Lambert and Stapleton borrowed jewelry from the estates of Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. Lambert is seen wearing Parton’s gold clip-on hoop earrings, while Stapleton sports a lion necklace of Rogers’.
Behind the Song
“A Song to Sing” was co-written by Lambert, Stapleton, Jesse Frasure, and Jenee Fleenor. The lyrics celebrate a timeless love that only gets better with time, reminiscent of classic country duets like “Islands in the Stream.” Lambert herself admitted that Kenny and Dolly were a huge inspiration for the song.
