Korn Ferry Tour to Drive Millions into Amarillo's Economy

The Korn Ferry Tour is set to return to Amarillo, Texas, in June of next year, promising a significant economic boost for the city. Operated by the PGA Tour, the Korn Ferry Tour serves as a crucial developmental platform for aspiring professional golfers.

Amarillo's Tascosa Golf Club has been selected as one of only 26 golf courses nationwide to host this prestigious professional tournament. Projections estimate that the event will generate several million dollars in revenue, attracting 156 players and spectators from around the world.

Amarillo Mayor Cole Stanley emphasized the wide-ranging benefits of hosting such a high-profile event. "There’s an economic impact to all of our small businesses, but more so than that, it’s something that’s going to be tradition. You’ll see families look forward to this week and this event year after year as we plan for the next 20 years," he stated.

Stanley added that the tournament will inject tourism dollars into local hotels, restaurants, and even dry cleaning services, highlighting the widespread economic impact. Korn Ferry Tour President Alex Baldwin echoed this sentiment, explaining how the organization's presence would bolster Amarillo's economy.

"Very real, very tangible, it’s our players, it’s our caddies, it’s our staff, it’s kind of the corporate clients that come in to kind of be part of this and the events we host," Baldwin explained.

OccuNet has secured the title sponsorship for the tournament, committing through 2030. Blair Broadhurst, Chief Marketing Officer of OccuNet, emphasized the long-term impact of the partnership. "It’s going to be a big economic impact, and it’s not just for one year, it’s a five year deal. It’s going to be, you know, hotel rooms and restaurants I mean there’s going to be a lot going on," said Broadhurst.

The multi-day event will not only provide ample opportunities for golf enthusiasts to watch the tournament but also allow visitors to explore Amarillo's attractions and experience the city's renowned hospitality.

Economic Benefits Beyond the Green

Beyond the direct revenue generated by the tournament, the Korn Ferry Tour is expected to create indirect benefits. Increased exposure for Amarillo as a tourist destination can lead to sustained growth in the hospitality sector. The event provides a platform for local businesses to showcase their offerings to a broader audience, fostering long-term relationships and economic stability.

A Legacy of Golf and Growth

With a commitment extending through 2030, the Korn Ferry Tour is poised to become a cornerstone of Amarillo's economic landscape. The partnership between the PGA Tour, local businesses, and the community promises a future of growth, tradition, and world-class golf.
