Donny Schatz Finds New Home After Shocking Departure from Tony Stewart Racing
In a stunning turn of events, racing legend Donny Schatz has secured a ride with Big Game Motorsports for the next seven World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Car races. This news comes less than 24 hours after his unexpected release from Tony Stewart Racing (TSR), marking a significant shift in the landscape of sprint car racing.
Big Game Motorsports owner Tod Quiring announced the addition of Schatz, a 10-time WoO champion, as a teammate to reigning series champ David Gravel. Schatz will continue to pilot his iconic No. 15 for the Brandon, S.D.-based team.
"We’re excited to have Donny be a part of the team for the next two and a half weeks,” Quiring stated. “Donny has produced a storied career with his 10 World of Outlaws championships and more than 300 World of Outlaws wins. He is also known as one of the cleanest race car drivers in the history of the sport and he does a tremendous job of taking care of equipment."
Schatz's debut with Big Game Motorsports is set for Friday at Ogilvie (Minn.) Raceway in the Big O Showdown, followed by a race at Jackson (Minn.) Motorplex on Saturday. The schedule also includes a stop at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wis., next Tuesday.
