Shooting for Downtown Hamilton: One Dead, One Injured

Downtown Hamilton dey mourn after shooting wey happen Friday evening, wey leave one woman dead and one man injured. Police dey investigate di incident wey happen for King Street, between James and MacNab streets.

Di Shooting Incident

According to Insp. Greg Doerr of di Hamilton Police Service, dem receive call around 5:30 p.m. When police reach di scene, dem find two victims. Di woman, dem pronounce her dead for di scene, while dem carry di man go hospital with injuries wey no dey threaten life.

Insp. Doerr talk say dem last see di shooter dey run away for James Street. Dem no give any further description.

Aftermath and Investigation

Dem lock down some buildings after 6 p.m., but dem don lift am now. Di shooting happen near di Art Crawl festival, wey dey go on for James Street North.

"We know say somebody dey armed with firearm for di city – we dey always worry," Doerr talk.

Police clear Jackson Square as dem dey investigate. Dem search James Street too. Dem say plenty police go dey around for several hours as dem dey secure di scene, collect evidence, and try find out wetin cause di incident. Roads dey closed, and dem dey divert traffic around King Street, James Street and MacNab Street.
