Daniel Radcliffe, we all know him as Harry Potter, but he's been making waves beyond Hogwarts! From almost being Mr. Johnson's son on 'Abbott Elementary' to Broadway glory with 'Merrily We Roll Along', the actor is showing his versatility.
Radcliffe's Near Miss on 'Abbott Elementary'
Imagine Daniel Radcliffe as the son of Mr. Johnson, the quirky janitor on 'Abbott Elementary'! Quinta Brunson, the show's creator, revealed that she had a dream of casting Radcliffe in that role. “For some reason, in the writers’ room, we were like, ‘What if Daniel Radcliffe was Mr. Johnson’s son?’” she said. It's a funny concept, but unfortunately, it didn't happen.
Broadway Triumph with 'Merrily We Roll Along'
But Radcliffe's star is shining bright on Broadway! 'Merrily We Roll Along' swept the 2024 Tony Awards, winning Best Musical Revival. Radcliffe himself won for Featured Actor in a Musical. Now, the filmed performance is aiming for more gold at upcoming movie awards.
Awards Season Buzz
While 'Merrily We Roll Along' can't compete at the Oscars, it *is* eligible for the Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards, and several guild awards. Sony Pictures Classics will submit the film in the comedy/musical categories for the Globes, with Radcliffe nominated for Best Musical/Comedy Actor. He, along with Jonathan Groff and Lindsey Mendez, will also be submitted as leads for SAG's Actor Awards.
