The Ghana Cedi dey do ein own thing o! Ebi like say e dey appreciate against the US Dollar, but importers dey celebrate while exporters dey vex. According to Samson Asaki Awingobit, Executive Secretary of the Importers and Exporters Association, government need to chop port duties sharp sharp. E say the current charges dey make goods expensive for everybody even though the Cedi dey go up.
What Dey Happen?
Awingobit dey claim say Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, promise say dem go meet with the association to discuss import duties after the budget presentation for March 2025. But till now, the meeting no happen. He dey beg government make dem speed up the process so the prices of things go come down for the markets.
President John Mahama talk say the Ghana Cedi go settle for somewhere between GH¢10 and GH¢12 against the US dollar. He dey say ebi fair value wey go support both exporters and importers while we keep our economy stable. But he dey warn say make the Cedi no be too strong, because e go spoil export business.
Exporters Dey Suffer?
Awingobit dey talk say importers dey generally happy with how things dey go recently, but exporters dey worry because dem no dey see enough returns on their investments. This dey show say ebi challenge to make everybody happy.
