The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives’ Association (GRNMA) dey condemn strong strong the attack wey happen for the Emergency Unit of Greater Accra Regional Hospital, wey dem know as Ridge Hospital. Dem dey describe am as 'unprovoked and barbaric'.
This attack, wey happen on Sunday, 17th August 2025, make the Association’s National Executive Committee hold emergency meeting. After the meeting, GRNMA leadership talk say dem shock for the incident. Dem say the violence against “healthcare professionals wey dey work hard amidst system challenges dey shock and e no dey acceptable.”
The statement emphasize say nurses dey important, say dem “dey serve for the frontlines of our healthcare system, dey risk their well-being to provide health services, especially when crisis dey happen.”
The Association dey warn say this aggression dey threaten the healthcare system. Dem say, “incidents of aggression towards medical staff dey undermine their safety and the quality of care for our healthcare institutions.”
GRNMA Dey Call for Action
GRNMA dey urge hospital management to “improve security for the hospital all the time and make sure say dem protect the privacy of health professionals and their patients.” Dem dey also call on management to “collaborate with the Police to solve the issue.”
Dem Dey Appeal to Ghana Police Service
Dem dey beg Ghana Police Service to “act fast to arrest the people wey do the thing and arrest any perpetrators wey cause harm to the health professionals and our nurses for the hospital without fail.” Dem dey warn say if dem no do am, e go lead to more aggression.
