Carlos Alcaraz has allayed fears about his ankle injury, powering through to the quarter-finals of the Japan Open after a convincing win against Zizou Bergs. The world number one admitted the injury, sustained earlier in the tournament, had been a concern, but he showed no signs of discomfort during his 6-4, 6-3 victory.

Speaking after the match, Alcaraz praised his physiotherapy team. "I said before and I'm going to say it again - I have the best physio in the world, who I trust 100%, and the work he has done for the ankle I think has been great."

The Spaniard's movement appeared largely unhindered, although he conceded to being slightly cautious at times. He faces Brandon Nakashima in the quarter-finals.
