Neighbors Reunion? Seth Rogen & Rose Byrne Want Zac Efron on 'Platonic'!

Could a Neighbors reunion be in the works? Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne are expressing their desire to work with Zac Efron again, this time on their Apple TV+ show, Platonic. The duo, who starred alongside Efron in the hilarious 2014 comedy Neighbors, shared their thoughts on the possibility of a reunion at the season 2 premiere.

'Platonic' Season 2: A Chance for a Reunion?

"I don’t understand why that hasn’t come to fruition yet. Now, I have it in my head that’s what we need to do,” Byrne told The Hollywood Reporter. Rogen enthusiastically agreed, adding, “We need to get Ike [Barinholtz, who also costarred in Neighbors] and Zac in Platonic. That’d be great.”

Francesca Delbanco, co-creator of Platonic alongside Nicholas Stoller (who also directed Neighbors), chimed in, saying it would be “amazing stunt casting” if they get another season and Efron would be willing to participate. Efron showcased his comedic talents in Neighbors, playing the head of a fraternity determined to make life difficult for Rogen and Byrne's characters, Mac and Kelly Radner.

Why Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne Work So Well Together

Rogen and Byrne's on-screen chemistry is undeniable, and they continue to collaborate on various projects. Platonic explores the complexities of male-female friendships, offering a relatable and often absurdly funny take on relationships in your 40s. The series avoids the typical romantic tropes, focusing instead on the deep connection, mutual support, and occasional irritations that define a platonic bond.

Season 2 of Platonic promises more of the same sharp wit and relatable scenarios, delving into situations familiar to many, such as navigating friendships when romantic partners don't get along. With the possibility of a Zac Efron cameo, the new season has even more potential for comedic gold.

Beyond Platonic, Seth Rogen is experiencing a prolific period, involved in projects like Amazon Prime’s The Boys and Hulu’s Pam & Tommy. He also shines on Apple TV+'s The Studio, demonstrating his versatility as an actor, writer, director, and producer. Rose Byrne continues to impress with her comedic timing and ability to create a natural and engaging dynamic with Rogen.
