Glorilla's GLO Bash Rocks Memphis! Fans Brave Drama for Hometown Show!

Memphis was buzzing Friday night as rapper Glorilla hosted her first annual “GLO Bash” at the FedExForum. Despite facing recent personal setbacks, including a burglary at her Atlanta-area home and a drug arrest, Glorilla delivered a high-energy performance for a packed arena of devoted fans.

Fans traveled from across the country to witness the event, eager to support the Memphis native in her hometown. Shantrell Pirtle, who made the trip from Nashville, expressed her enthusiasm: “We are Glorilla fans and we are here to support Memphis.”

A Show of Support and Hometown Pride

Lines stretched around the FedExForum as fans waited to enter, anticipating Glorilla's performance alongside her friends. Alexandria Brooks, a fan from St. Louis, highlighted Glorilla's impact: “I just love her spirit, her personality, her music. She’s just really powerful to me.”

Increased Security Measures

The large crowds prompted a significant police presence in Downtown Memphis. The Memphis Police Department (MPD) blocked off roads and deployed officers on foot, horseback, and in vehicles to patrol the entertainment districts. This heightened security aimed to ensure the safety of attendees, especially considering a past shooting incident at the FedExForum during a Lil' Baby concert two years prior, which led to the implementation of a clear bag policy.

“I’m feeling really safe,” said Pirtle, appreciating the visible police presence. Fans expressed confidence that no similar incidents would occur at the GLO Bash, focusing instead on celebrating Glorilla's success.

More Than Just Music

Misty Valencia of Memphis shared her admiration for the rapper: “I love her. I love her come-up, how she represents Memphis. This is probably like my third time seeing her and I’m going to see her again.”

In addition to the GLO Bash, Downtown Memphis hosted a Redbirds game, a performance of The Wiz at the Orpheum, and Trolley Night, creating a vibrant atmosphere throughout the city. The MPD released a statement emphasizing their commitment to ensuring a safe and enjoyable night for everyone.
