Aaron Rodgers, the new Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, is already making headlines – and not just for his on-field performance. It seems the veteran QB has some… unique preferences when it comes to his living arrangements during training camp.
The Dorm Life Dilemma: Silent Flushing?
Rodgers is sharing a dorm room with wide receiver DK Metcalf at Saint Vincent College. Apparently, the dorm's toilet is particularly loud. According to Metcalf, Rodgers has instituted a nighttime "no flushing" policy. Yes, you read that right. Rodgers, a known fan of uninterrupted sleep, has asked Metcalf to refrain from flushing the toilet after hours.
Metcalf recounted the situation to Yahoo Sports, explaining how he even texted Rodgers one night to get the all-clear before flushing. "The toilet is super loud," Metcalf said. "So [Rodgers] was like, ‘Yeah, at night, if we got to p---, just don’t flush the toilet.’ I was like, ‘All right, bet.’"
Rodgers Shrugs Off Interception, Focuses on Touchdowns
Beyond the bathroom etiquette, Rodgers is also focused on football. Despite throwing an interception on his first pass attempt during training camp, Rodgers remained unfazed. "It's good to get that out of the way," he said, adding that he likes to try certain throws during practice.
He acknowledged the challenge of practicing in the heat but emphasized his commitment to throwing touchdowns. The Steelers are counting on Rodgers' experience and touchdown-throwing ability to improve their offense. He threw 28 TD passes last season and has 503 in his career.
Building Chemistry On and Off the Field
Coach Mike Tomlin praised Rodgers' work ethic and high expectations. Rodgers, in turn, believes that bonding with his teammates – even through shared bathroom experiences – is crucial for success. He believes the team has a legitimate chance to go all the way this season.
The unusual roommate situation seems to be a part of building chemistry. From route cues to toilet flushing, Rodgers and Metcalf are definitely getting to know each other quickly at Steelers camp.
