Roma are reportedly considering a loan move for Brighton striker Evan Ferguson. After a challenging season, including a less-than-successful loan stint with West Ham United where he struggled to find the net, the young Irishman's future at Brighton appears uncertain.
According to reports, Brighton are open to offers for Ferguson, and Roma are among the clubs who have been approached. The Giallorossi are said to be evaluating the possibility of bringing the striker in on loan to bolster their attacking options.
Ferguson, once valued at €65 million after a hat-trick against Newcastle United in September 2023, has seen his stock fall due to injuries and limited playing time. Brighton are reportedly willing to accept a fee of around €33 million for the 20-year-old.
Brighton's manager, Fabian Hürzeler, seemingly preferred other options last season, leading to Ferguson's loan to West Ham. With the arrival of Charalampos Kostoulas and competition from other forwards like Georgio Rutter and Danny Welbeck, Ferguson's path to regular first-team football at Brighton looks increasingly difficult.
Brighton recently sold Joao Pedro to Chelsea for a reported €58 million. “This is a good move for all parties,” said Hürzeler of Pedro’s departure. “It’s an excellent deal for the club, and a good return on a significant investment in an area of the pitch where we have a lot of competition and are already well served in terms of our attacking talent.”
A move to Roma could offer Ferguson the opportunity to revive his career and potentially play Champions League football. If he can stay injury-free during preseason, he could prove to be a valuable addition to the Roma squad.
