His agent, Julie Smith, confirmed the news, stating that Marinelli had been battling throat and stomach cancer for several years.

Marinelli boasts an impressive career spanning over 50 screen credits. He gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Bunny Tagliatti, a cross-dressing mobster, in the daytime soap opera “Santa Barbara” from 1988 to 1990. His performance earned him a Soap Opera Digest Award.

Early Roles and Guest Appearances

Before his iconic role in “Santa Barbara,” Marinelli appeared in several popular shows in the mid-1980s, including “Cagney & Lacey,” “Hill Street Blues,” and “L.A. Law.” He continued to grace television screens throughout the 1990s with guest roles in “ER,” “JAG,” and “The King of Queens.”

Return to Daytime and Beyond

Marinelli returned to daytime television in 1999, playing Joseph Sorel on “General Hospital.” He continued to work in television in the 2000s, appearing in shows like “The West Wing,” “NYPD Blue,” and “House.” He also showcased his talent in the acclaimed 2004 film “Sideways.”

More recently, Marinelli appeared in series such as “Insecure,” “Hollywood,” and “The Offer.” His most recent role was as UBA director Donny Spagnoli on Apple TV+'s “The Morning Show,” where he appeared in 20 episodes. He and his castmates received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination in 2022 for best dramatic ensemble.
