Spurs Eye Dylan Harper? NBA Draft Rumors Heat Up! Don't Miss Out!

The NBA offseason is officially underway, and all eyes are on the San Antonio Spurs as the 2025 NBA Draft approaches. With the second overall pick, the Spurs are generating significant buzz, particularly surrounding Rutgers combo guard Dylan Harper.

Dylan Harper to the Spurs?

According to Yahoo! Sports' Kevin O'Connor, the Spurs are heavily considering drafting Dylan Harper with the second pick. Harper is currently a -9000 favorite to go second overall on FanDuel. However, O'Connor also reports that the Spurs are open to trade offers for the pick, but they are seeking a "ridiculous haul" in return. An NBA front office executive told O'Connor, "Far more than I’d expect anyone to give up."

What Makes Harper So Appealing?

Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report predicts the Spurs will select Harper, noting the benefit to the team's long-term outlook. O'Connor describes Harper as a "big-bodied lefty combo guard who has a high floor with the skill, poise, and playmaking instincts to dictate the game at his pace."

Potential Concerns

Despite the hype, there are some concerns about Harper's fit with the Spurs. O'Connor points out that Harper's shooting percentages – 36.8% on catch-and-shoot 3s and 28.7% on dribble jumpers – could be a hindrance. With De'Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle already on the roster, and described as "more interior-focused guards," Harper's shooting limitations could pose a challenge for the Spurs' backcourt.

Other Draft Considerations

Beyond the second pick, the Spurs also hold the 14th and 38th picks. Reports suggest they have interest in Georgetown big man Thomas Sorber with the 14th pick. Sorber is known for his strong finishing around the rim, passing ability, and impactful interior defense. Other potential targets include Washington State wing Cedric Coward, Duke big man Khaman Maluach, and French center Joan Beringer.

The next few days promise to be exciting for Spurs fans as the team navigates the NBA Draft and looks to add more talent to their young core, which already includes Rookie of the Year winners Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle, and star point guard De'Aaron Fox.
