The BIG3 is entering an exciting new era with its 8th season. Beyond the influx of talent for the 2025 season, the league has made a monumental shift in its structure to foster growth and deeper connections with fans. In May 2024, the BIG3 announced the sale of team rights to various ownership groups, assigning each team to a specific city – a departure from the previous league-owned model.
Local Ties and Home Games
This strategic move aims to enhance local fan engagement and build stronger community bonds, mirroring traditional professional sports leagues. To further solidify city affiliations, each team will host at least one home game during the upcoming season. The eight cities now home to BIG3 teams are: Boston, Dallas, Detroit, Chicago, Houston, Miami, Los Angeles, and the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia area (DMV).
Star-Studded Rosters and Championship Odds
The rosters are set for the 2025 season, and the star power in the BIG3 is at an all-time high. The quest for the BIG3 Championship kicks off on Saturday at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois, broadcasting on CBS and VICE TV. According to DraftKings, the favorites to win the 2025 BIG3 Championship are:
- Miami 305 (+350)
Miami 305: The Team to Beat?
Miami 305 boasts arguably the best roster in the BIG3. The core of the team returns from the 3s Company franchise, including Mario Chalmers, Michael Beasley, Reggie Evans, and Sean Williams. These four led their team to the championship game last season but ultimately fell short. Chalmers excelled in 2024, ranking in the top 10 in assists and steals while maintaining his three-point threat. Evans remains the BIG3's best rebounder, and Williams tied for the league lead with nine steals last season. Beasley, the reigning league MVP, averaged an impressive 21.3 points per game.
The established chemistry and talent of this quartet are undeniable. Adding Lance Stephenson, the first overall pick in the 2025 BIG3 Draft, only strengthens Miami 305's championship aspirations. Will they finally clinch the title this year?
