Quentin Tarantino's Massive Payday: $20 Million for 'Cliff Booth' Script

Quentin Tarantino, one of Hollywood's most celebrated filmmakers, is reportedly receiving a staggering $20 million from Netflix for the script of his new film, 'The Adventures of Cliff Booth.' This project is a direct sequel to his critically acclaimed 2019 hit, 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,' which starred Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio.

The news, initially reported by Jeff Sneider of The InSneider, highlights the immense value placed on Tarantino's unique writing style and storytelling prowess. While Tarantino penned the script, David Fincher, known for films like 'The Killer,' will be directing. This collaboration came about after Brad Pitt, impressed with the script, suggested Fincher take the helm.

Pitt is set to reprise his role as Cliff Booth. Meanwhile, Leonardo DiCaprio, who played Rick Dalton in the original, was reportedly offered $3 million for a cameo appearance. It remains to be seen if DiCaprio will accept the offer. Margot Robbie, who portrayed Sharon Tate, is also rumored to be available should Fincher decide to bring her back.

The Evolution of the Script

The Playlist reports that the script for 'The Adventures of Cliff Booth' evolved from Tarantino's earlier work, 'The Movie Critic,' which also involved Pitt's character in some capacity. Netflix's willingness to pay such a substantial sum underscores its confidence in Tarantino's ability to deliver another box office hit. While there's no confirmed release date yet, the film is expected to arrive in the next few years, generating considerable anticipation among fans.
