Parker Meadows Returns to Leadoff Spot for Tigers Against Orioles

Detroit Tigers outfielder Parker Meadows is back in the leadoff spot for Wednesday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. He'll also be starting in center field.

Meadows had been moved down to the No. 9 spot in the batting order on Tuesday when the Orioles started left-handed pitcher Cade Povich. However, with right-hander Zach Eflin on the mound for Baltimore today, Meadows has been reinstated as the leadoff hitter.

Meadows missed the first 60 games of the season while recovering from a nerve issue in his throwing arm. Since returning, he's had a slow start, posting a .185/.313/.296 slash line. Despite the slow start, the Tigers appear committed to using him as a regular at the top of their lineup when facing right-handed pitchers.

The Tigers are hoping that Meadows can provide a spark at the top of the order and help the team generate some offense against the Orioles.

Meadows' Early Season Struggles

While the team remains confident, Meadows' slow start is a concern. He'll need to improve his batting average and overall offensive production if he wants to remain a fixture in the leadoff spot. The nerve issue in his arm could still be affecting his performance, but the team is hoping he can work through it.

What to Expect from Meadows

  • Increased playing time against right-handed pitchers.
  • Opportunity to improve his batting average and on-base percentage.
  • Continued development as a key part of the Tigers' lineup.
