Tragic Loss: Super Bowl Champ Arthur Jones Dead at 39

The sports world is mourning the untimely passing of Arthur Jones, a former NFL defensive lineman and Super Bowl champion with the Baltimore Ravens. Jones died on October 3rd at the age of 39. News of his death was first announced by Syracuse University, his alma mater. The cause of death has not been released.

A Beloved Figure

Jones was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in 2010 and played with the team for four seasons, including the 2012 season that culminated in a Super Bowl XLVII victory over the San Francisco 49ers. He also played for the Indianapolis Colts and Washington before retiring from the NFL in 2017.

Beyond his accomplishments on the field, Jones was known for his positive attitude and infectious energy. "Arthur’s presence was a gift to everyone he encountered," said Ravens General Manager Eric DeCosta. "His big, bright smile, infectious energy and eternal positivity created a presence that continuously uplifted others. He was kind, courteous and enthusiastic – always displaying a love for family, teammates and friends."

A Family of Athletes

Arthur Jones came from a family of accomplished athletes. His younger brothers are Jon "Bones" Jones, a UFC heavyweight champion, and Chandler Jones, a former All-Pro pass rusher who also won a Super Bowl with the New England Patriots. Arthur's son, Arthur Jones IV, is also pursuing a career in football.
