Heat REUNION! Precious Achiuwa Signs Shocking Deal! You Won't Believe It!

Former New York Knicks forward Precious Achiuwa is heading back to South Beach! In a move that has surprised many, Achiuwa has agreed to a one-year deal with the Miami Heat, according to ESPN insider Shams Charania. This marks a reunion for the Heat's No. 20 pick in the 2020 NBA draft.

Achiuwa Back with the Heat

Charania tweeted the news, stating, "Free agent C/F Precious Achiuwa has agreed to a one-year deal with the Miami Heat... a reunion for the Heat's No. 20 pick in the 2020 NBA draft after productive stints in New York and Toronto."

Achiuwa was recently ranked highly on a list of bargain free agents, highlighting his potential value to a team. Despite playing a smaller role for the Knicks, his athleticism and physicality are seen as assets. One potential drawback is his size for a center position and the need to develop a more consistent outside shot.

What Achiuwa Brings to Miami

During his time with the Toronto Raptors, Achiuwa showed promise as a three-point shooter, hitting nearly 36% of his attempts in the 2021-22 season. While his volume and efficiency have decreased since then, he remains a solid option for a team seeking a physical and mobile big man who doesn't necessarily need to be a floor spacer.

Last season with the Knicks, Achiuwa averaged 6.6 points and 5.6 rebounds in 57 games. He arrived in New York as part of the trade that brought OG Anunoby to the Knicks from the Toronto Raptors. The Knicks reportedly liked Achiuwa, but roster adjustments led to his departure.

According to Anthony Chiang, the deal is a fully non-guaranteed one-year contract. The Heat will need to make some roster moves to accommodate Achiuwa on their preseason roster.
