Comedian Sebastian Maniscalco Stuns Impersonators in Atlantic City
Atlantic City got a hilarious surprise Friday night when superstar comedian Sebastian Maniscalco crashed his own impersonation contest! The "Sebastian Maniscalco Impression Contest" was held at Nola’s Bar & Lounge at Ocean Casino Resort, where Maniscalco is currently holding a two-week residency as part of his "It Ain’t Right" tour.
The competition featured roughly half a dozen impersonators showcasing their best Maniscalco, mimicking his signature mannerisms, facial expressions, hand gestures, and, of course, his iconic line: "What’s wrong with people?" Some even brought his famous "Chipotle bit" to the stage, and poked fun at the comedian's Italian heritage.
But the real showstopper was when Maniscalco himself appeared! He announced and congratulated the winner, Mark Maggi, who was a dead ringer for the comedian. "Very talented and I thought I was looking into a mirror," Maniscalco said of Maggi in a YouTube video posted by The Press of Atlantic City.
Maggi, decked out in a black leather jacket, black shirt, and black jeans, sported a haircut nearly identical to Maniscalco's. He revealed he'd been getting comments about his resemblance to the comedian for about 17 years. "I don’t have to do an impression," Maggi said in the video. "The scary part is, I act just like this. I kinda am waiting for my residual check from him." Maggi added, "It was a privilege to be here. Yeah, it’s pretty cool."
The contest was hosted by comedian Andrea Lopez and judged by Mad Mutz founder Mike Hauke, comedian and Maniscalco's co-podcost host Pete Correale, and Ocean Executive Vice President of Operations Frank Ruocco. Other contestants included Anthony Barberio, Brandon Castillo, Chelsea Spaghetti, Mike Pagno, Tony Danieelo, and Vinny Scarpa, all vying for the top prize.
Maniscalco is scheduled to perform eight shows during his two-week residency at Ocean Casino Resort. Tickets are still available for some shows.
