Sheinelle Jones: Son's Injury & Sweet Moment After Husband's Death

Today show host Sheinelle Jones is navigating a mix of emotions. Just weeks after returning to the show following the death of her husband, Uche Ojeh, she's now supporting her son through an injury that's keeping him off the soccer field.

Son's Growing Pains

Jones shared on the 3rd Hour of Today that her son is experiencing significant “growing pains” under his knees. While she didn't specify which of her three children sustained the injury, she emphasized using the situation as a teaching moment about being a good teammate. “I talked to him about being a good sport, so we still drove an hour and a half to be on the bench,” she said.

This comes after Jones took time off from Today to be with her husband, Uche Ojeh, who passed away in May after battling glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. Jones returned to the show on September 5th, sharing her grieving process and how her family is coping.

A Sweet Moment with Dylan Dreyer's Son

Amidst the challenges, Jones also shared a heartwarming moment involving her colleague Dylan Dreyer's son, Oliver. Dreyer sent Jones a clip of Oliver attempting to pronounce her name, resulting in a hilarious and endearing mispronunciation. Jones shared the clip on her Instagram, captioning it: “The way he says my name gives me such joy! #citykidwithacountrytwang.”

Jones' ability to find joy in small moments, even during difficult times, is a testament to her strength and resilience. She continues to balance her career with motherhood, navigating grief and celebrating the sweet moments along the way.
