Football: Bulldogs Seek First Win Against Catamounts
The Samford Bulldogs football team (0-3, 0-1 SoCon) travels to Cullowhee, N.C., to take on the Western Carolina Catamounts (0-3) this Saturday. Kickoff is at 1:30 p.m. CT at E.J. Whitmire Stadium. Both teams are hungry for their first win of the season, making this a crucial Southern Conference matchup.
Samford leads the all-time series 17-5, but Western Carolina snagged a 47-42 victory last season. Since Samford joined the SoCon, they hold a 13-4 record against the Catamounts. The Bulldogs will be looking to improve their 7-3 record in games played at Western Carolina.
Under Coach Chris Hatcher, Samford's offenses have been prolific, averaging 32.3 points per game. Expect them to come out firing.

Soccer: Catamounts and Bulldogs Battle to a Draw
The Samford soccer team opened their SoCon season with a 2-2 draw against Western Carolina Thursday evening. Martha Bishop and Sam De Luca scored for Samford, while Isabella DeMarco and Emma Soucy found the net for Western Carolina. Goalkeepers Peyton Hull (Samford) and Leanne Trudel (WCU) each recorded nine saves.
Samford's record now stands at 3-2-4 overall and 0-0-1 in conference play. Western Carolina is 4-3-3 overall and 0-0-1 in the SoCon.
Samford will next host Chattanooga on Sunday.
